The Festival of the Goddess

About Us

We began out of one woman's vision of a safe place for wimmin to share artistic expressions of the Goddess as well as share our personal spiritual paths. We have been Festing annually since 1992, each time out of the combined inspiration of a community of wimmin dedicated to reaching out to other women and sharing our vision of Goddess Spirituality and what a life in intentional community can be like.

The cauldron gets stirred as wimmin meet to call forth the Divine Feminine. Then we begin creating a theme for whichever Goddess has appeared for that year. Then the hard work starts: we conjure up the support needed to make our Festival happen.

Each year we invent a sacred community anew and experience the presence of the Goddess within us and around us. We have long called the manifesting of each Festival a "Learning Workshop" for those who choose to bring it forward that year. We experience what it is to lead, follow, inspire ourselves and others to make it all happen. We make our mistakes and learn from them.

So why do we do this?

Because we are called. The Goddess is stepping forward more & more into our time on this planet and we support Her in becoming more visible. We are called in many different ways. Some come to make a safe container for women to explore spirituality with their daughters. Some come to help women re-member what we-as a culture- have forgotten. Others help us to connect/reconnect as women, asa group, as goddess in our own bodies.

We are about relationship: relationship with our self, relationship with our daughters, relationship with each other, and relationship with Goddess. We come together as one to empowering women & girls, to recognize the sacred and reconnect to the feminine and to to create a new paradigm.

This is also a place for women & maidens to see each other as perfect in ALL our forms. There is no judgment about the female body, no standard of perfection or misplaced shame. We are all created in the image of the Goddess and we are beautiful just as we are.

This is powerful work. It is also a party with a purpose: To re-manifest onto this plane of existence Goddess; to welcome Her back and to show each other that there are more of us than we realize. We are no longer isolated. We are not alone. And we are growing in number.

Because we are pointed toward the divine masculine on a daily basis our divine feminine is not nurtured. Most of our spiritual experiences have been patriarchal. This Festival is the culmination of bringing our own aspects of the Divine Feminine forward and becoming One. We come together as a group of goddess women because it expands our worlds, both during our time at festival and in living in the world of patriarchy afterwards. We practice what matriarchy would look like and then we take it home with us.
